When Darnytska CHP plant will be restored — expert forecast
Experts at the Razumkov Center say rapid repairs are impossible and outlined a possible timeline for restoring capacity.

Restoring the Darnytska Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) in Kyiv, damaged by Russian attacks, will require significant financial investment and considerable time. About €700 million may be needed, and up to three years to fully return to pre-war capacity.
Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programmes at the Razumkov Center, said this while speaking on Novyny.LIVE.
He said the scale of work needed is vast, noting that the task involves not building a new facility from scratch but a complex restoration process to return the station to its pre-strike technical condition.
«Restoration of the Darnytska CHP plant will require up to three years and around 700 million euros, ” he said.
Heating season forecast
The outlook for the winter heating period remains challenging. The expert cautioned against expectations of a quick restart of the facility in the near term. The plant is therefore likely to remain offline throughout the current autumn-winter season.
Omelchenko noted that while certain components of the thermal equipment could theoretically be repaired relatively quickly, restoring full generating capacity would take considerably longer.
«This heating season will be without recovery. Realistically, no sooner than six months, and full restoration — within two to three years, ” the director of energy programmes said, outlining the expected timeframe.
