The overnight attack, carried out late on Tuesday into Wednesday, 28 January, targeted Kyiv and the wider Kyiv region. Debris from downed drones fell in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. In the Kyiv region, the Bilohorodka community came under attack, leaving two people dead.

Attack on Kyiv
Air raid sirens sounded in the capital overnight, lasting from 01:01 to 02:40. The military warned of a drone threat. Kyiv City Military Administration Head Tymur Tkachenko said air defense units were active in the city.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that in the Holosiivskyi district, debris from a drone fell onto the roof of a two-storey non-residential building. A small fire broke out but was quickly extinguished.
He added that fragments also struck a roadway in the same district, damaging windows and the roof of a 17-storey residential building.
Kyiv police said a drone hit the technical floor of a 17-storey building. There were no casualties. The facade, windows, and six vehicles were damaged.

Attack on Kyiv region
Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region overnight. Regional Military Administration Head Mykola Kalashnyk said the Bilohorodka community was hit. A multi-storey building was damaged, and the roof and top floor caught fire.
The State Emergency Service reported that the attack by a “Geranium-2” UAV caused a fire in an apartment of a seven-storey residential building.
Two people were killed. According to police, the victims were a man and a woman; their four-year-old child received assistance on site. Four others were injured. Kalashnyk said a woman and two children (born 2016 and 2021) suffered acute stress reactions, and a man was poisoned by smoke.
