On the night of February 16, 2026, Kyiv and its surrounding region experienced powerful blasts.

Monitoring channels tracking aerial threats reported the explosions.

According to their data, explosions were heard on both banks of the capital, and the sound may have been amplified due to high air humidity.

Monitors claim that a Zircon missile was launched from temporarily occupied Crimea towards the region. Anti-aircraft defense was reported to be active near Nalyvaikivka, close to Makariv.

Sources noted that a major substation 750 kV Kyivska, connected to the national power grid and the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant, is located in Nalyvaikivka. Monitoring channels suggested an attempt to intercept the missile may have occurred there.

A few minutes after the first attack, another missile of the same type was launched. Explosions were again reported in Kyiv region, and aerial reconnaissance continued.
