Russia pounds Kyiv residential areas: Many killed and injured – details of the deadly attack
Russian strikes across several districts of the capital have left civilians dead and residential buildings shattered.

Overnight and on the morning of April 16, the Russian army launched a massive assault on Kyiv. Multiple districts were targeted. There are fatalities, including a child. Dozens of residents sustained injuries.
Here is the breakdown of the Kyiv strikes and their aftermath, as reported by TSN.ua.
According to the State Emergency Service, the overnight attack caused destruction in four districts: Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Desnianskyi.
The victims
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed four fatalities. A 12-year-old child and a woman were killed in the Podilskyi district. In Obolon, two security guards at a car dealership were killed.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office reports at least 54 residents injured, including three police officers, four medics, and two foreign nationals. Several of the wounded have been hospitalized.
Attack on Kyiv: The aftermath of the strikes
The heaviest destruction occurred in Obolon and Podil. In total, the attack damaged 17 high-rise buildings, 10 private houses, a hotel, an office center, a car dealership, a gas station, and a shopping mall.
Obolonskyi district: a warehouse, a tire shop, and a retail building were damaged; parked cars caught fire.
Two people were killed. Among the six injured were four paramedics and two police officers who had arrived at the scene.
Podilskyi district: One strike hit an open area, blowing out the facades of residential blocks. The bodies of two victims, including a 12-year-old child, were recovered from under the rubble of a house. Three others were wounded by flying glass.
At another location, the facades of two hotels and nearby buildings were destroyed, leaving two injured.
Additionally, hits were recorded in front of residential buildings; a one-story home was leveled (two people were rescued from the debris), and a 16-story tower was hit on the sixth floor.
Desnianskyi district: A fire broke out in a two-story residential building. No casualties reported.
Shevchenkivskyi district: A strike hit a children’s playground and the area near a residential building.
