A massive forest fire in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone has already destroyed hundreds of hectares and continues spreading.

Wildfire in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone
Emergency crews are battling a large-scale wildfire in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, where flames have already engulfed more than 1,100 hectares of forest. Strong winds and dry weather are fueling the rapid spread of the fire into new areas.
The situation was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Powerful wind gusts are driving the fire deeper through the forest and into new sectors of the exclusion zone. Preliminary estimates show the blaze has already spread across more than 1,100 hectares.
Dry weather conditions, strong winds, and the threat of landmines in parts of the territory are severely complicating firefighting efforts. In some forest sectors, operations had to be temporarily suspended due to the risk of explosive devices being discovered.
Units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, special equipment, and other emergency services have been deployed to contain the fire. Rescue crews are working in intensified conditions to localize hotspots and prevent the wildfire from spreading further.
Firefighting operations are ongoing.
